Exceeded my goal, but I’m not done yet!

“I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.”

Rabindranath Tagore

I’m excited to announce my participation in a yoga teacher training in AFRICA!  Yep, for real!  I know, you may have thought I was nuts when I quit my cushy state job 3 years ago to teach yoga full time and now I’m writing you to tell you about my commitment to bringing yoga to Africa.  My friend Paige Elenson co-founded Africa Yoga Project (AYP) with Baron Baptiste, and I’ve been invited to assist them in delivering a Teacher Training program to teachers from all over Africa.  As a part of my involvement, I’m committed to raising $5,000.  And, of course, I need your help.  THEY need your help.  WE need your help!

The training will be held in Kenya during the first week of July 2013. Over 65 teachers from all over Africa will participate in the training and your support will go directly to the Africa Yoga Project Scholarship Fund, which will provide travel, accommodations, food, and education for these teachers. In addition, the graduates will go on to create a mentorship program for emerging leaders in their local African communities. Currently, these teachers offer 300 free classes per week in Nairobi and surrounding areas.  They empower over 5,000 people each week.  This training will provide a launching pad for added depth and discovery on their paths as teachers and community change agents.

AYP has scholarship applications from Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Cameroon, Ethiopia and South Africa. Paige, the Director of AYP, recently said, “The potential to affect large scale change is there and it happens by investing in human potential and opportunity.” Paige is up to BIG things and I want to be a part of that.  Don’t YOU?

Many of you know I spent years in Public Health working on large social change projects.  Africa Yoga Project is a beautiful union of what I love about public health and my passion for yoga.  Yoga has changed my life, my outlook, and my way of being.  I now show up in the world knowing that my work is to serve others from a place of humility and wonder.  I realize that there’s so much more that I don’t know, than I actually do know.

If you’ve been wondering about how to use your time and resources to make a difference, this is your chance.  Donate $1, $5, $5000 or anything in between.  Then, forward this link to your entire contact list and give them one reason to donate, perhaps it’s just because you want to support me!

Thank you in advance for your support, for your encouragement, for your willingness to create a world where we lead with our hearts first instead of our heads.  Anything you can offer will make a difference. Click here to join me in making a difference today!
